For Daniel Craig There Is No Time To Die

By Steffon Olsen

Waiting on tables as a struggling young actor in England, Daniel Craig couldn’t have scarcely even imagined that he would, one day, become James Bond. Craig first grew to become one of the most remembered faces on the British Theatre stage. As a child the first James Bond movie he saw was with his father; Roger Moore’s Live and Let Die. It was an unforgettable experience for him. Eventually, he studied at the Guildhall School of  Music and Drama at the Barbican.  Some of his peers included Ewan McGregor and Joseph Fiennes.

Craig played many supporting roles in films throughout the 90’s and early 2000’s including an actual leading role in Layer Cake(2004), which landed him one of many nominations he was receiving at the time. In October 2005, Craig was chosen as the sixth actor to play the role as James Bond. He decided to quit smoking just prior to the beginning of shooting “Casino Royale”(2006). He was the second English actor to play Bond. The first was Roger Moore. Craig went on to play Bond in the films: Quantum of Solace(2008), Skyfall(2012), Spectre(2015), and the upcoming, No Time to Die, which is set to release on October 8th, 2021. Daniel Craig is officially the longest serving James Bond of all time.

What was Daniel Craig doing when he first heard the news that he had landed the role of James Bond?

“When the producer rang me to tell me I’d got the part, I was buying dishwashing tablets in Whole Foods. I promptly dropped them and went and bought a bottle of vodka!”

How is the James Bond Lifestyle?

“I’m not James Bond. The thing is I am genuinely not him, so therefore, I don’t need any of his lifestyle. I have mine. Really, I mean it’s not something I aspire to be. I don’t have any desire.”

After rumors that there might not be a return after Spectre, why return for “No Time To Die?

“Somehow it felt like we needed to finish something off. If I’d left it at Spectre, something at the back of my head would have been going, ‘I wish I’d done one more.”

It’s rumored that it was a very emotional day on the set on the last day of filming on the latest film. What was it like after the wrap of the final scene on “No Time To Die?”

“The whole crew came round and gathered outside.”  “Everybody was hugging each other. I tried to make a speech and couldn’t get it out.”

What philosophy or important theme drives Daniel Craig?

“I go through life thinking it’s all going to end tomorrow.”

Look for “No Time To Die” in theaters October 8th, 2021.
